A D-8-4 points-system applicant must score 60 or more of 300 points, meet at least one mandatory item, and have established a Korean corporation with corporate registration and business registration completed. Documents are a degree certificate copy or a recommendation from a central agency head, plus for IP holders a copy of the patent, utility model or design registration, an apostille-certified copy for OECD-country records, a filing-fact certificate issued by the head of the Intellectual Property Office for applicants, and proof of points items such as OASIS completion or award certificates.

Key Summary

  • Points: 60 or more of 300 points and at least one mandatory item
  • Corporation established, registered and business-registered
  • IP: registration copies; apostille as a rule for OECD-country records; filing-fact certificate for applicants
  • OASIS completion (course completion, graduation) certificate, award confirmation, selection notice and other points-item proof

1. What are the basic requirements?

You must hold a junior-college degree or higher obtained in Korea, a bachelor’s degree or higher obtained abroad, or be recommended by the head of a relevant central agency, score 60 or more of 300 points and meet at least one mandatory item. You must also have established a Korean corporation and completed corporate and business registration.

2. How are education or recommendation proven?

Submit a copy of the degree certificate or a recommendation from the head of a relevant central agency.

3. How is intellectual property proven?

IP holders (registrants) submit copies of the patent, utility model registration or design registration. The Intellectual Property Office’s KIPRIS can be used to search holdings. Applicants for patents and similar rights submit the filing-fact certificate issued by the head of the Intellectual Property Office.

4. What about OECD-country IP?

Submit a copy of the proof that you hold (registered) the IP, with apostille certification as a rule. Nationals of countries not party to the apostille system substitute confirmation by a Korean consul stationed in an OECD country.

5. How are OASIS points proven?

Submit the OASIS completion (course completion, graduation) certificate, award confirmation or selection notice issued by the head of the Global Startup Immigration Center designated by the Minister of Justice. For other points items, submit proof for each item.

6. Common problems

  • Not checking the mandatory item on the points table
  • Overseas IP documents lacking an apostille or consular confirmation
  • Preparing points documents before corporate and business registration are done

7. How A-One Certified Administrative Agent can help

We check item-by-item proof and apostille or consular confirmation, and organize the submission. No result can be promised, and we do not handle litigation or court representation (outside the scope of an administrative scrivener).
